Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 update support has ended for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
Samsung did not include these two smartwatch models in its September 2026 security update, making the August 2026 patch their reported final security update.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Update Support Ends
The Galaxy Watch 4 series launched in 2021 and is now nearly five years old. According to the reported update timeline, both watches received their last security patch in August 2026 and were left out of Samsung’s September 2026 security update.
This means users should not expect new software features or regular security updates for these two models going forward.
Galaxy Watch 4 Reached Wear OS 6
The Galaxy Watch 4 series was an important launch for Samsung because the watches were among the company’s first models to ship with Wear OS.
Samsung had promised four major Wear OS updates for the devices and delivered them. The series launched with Wear OS 3.5 and eventually received Wear OS 6.
The end of software support does not mean the watches will stop working. Users can continue using their existing watches for normal tasks as long as the devices remain functional.
Should Galaxy Watch 4 Users Upgrade Now?
Users do not need to replace their Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic immediately if the watches are working properly.
However, those planning to keep using their smartwatch for several more years may consider moving to a newer model.
An upgrade may be more important for users who rely on their smartwatch for payments, banking, health features or other sensitive services, as these uses can make continued security support more important.
How to Check the Latest Watch Update
Galaxy Watch 4 users can check for available updates through the Galaxy Wearable app. On the phone, open Watch Settings, select Watch Software Update and then choose Download and Install.
Samsung also allows users to check directly from the watch by going to Settings, followed by Software Update and Download and Install.
