Six Mainboard IPOs opened for subscription on September 9, 2026, marking the first time in nearly 30 years that six mainboard public issues have opened on the same day in India.

The six companies together plan to raise approximately ₹4,509 crore. The last time six IPOs opened on a single day was October 14, 1996, making September 9 a notable day for India’s primary market.

Six Mainboard IPOs Open on September 9

The six companies opening their IPOs on Wednesday are Rentomojo, Asset Reconstruction Company (India), Manipal Payment & Identity Solutions, Steamhouse India, LCC Projects and Karamtara Engineering.

The companies operate across different sectors, giving investors several types of businesses to consider at the same time.

Rentomojo operates a furniture and household goods rental business, while the other companies have businesses spanning areas such as finance, payments and engineering.

Together, the six IPOs are looking to raise approximately ₹4,509 crore from the market.

Similar IPO Rush Was Seen in 1996

The last time six IPOs opened on the same day was October 14, 1996. Those companies together raised approximately ₹22 crore.

The comparison highlights how much larger the size of public issues has become over the past three decades. While the number of IPOs opening together is the same, the combined fundraising amount is now significantly higher.

Another notable day followed soon after the 1996 event. Seven IPOs reportedly opened together on October 28, 1996.

This means September 9, 2026, does not represent the all-time record for the highest number of IPOs opening in one day, but it marks the return of a six-IPO opening day after nearly three decades.

Busy Week for India’s IPO Market

The six Mainboard IPOs are part of a particularly active week for India’s primary market.

A total of 12 mainboard IPOs are scheduled between September 7 and September 11, with the companies collectively targeting approximately ₹7,180 crore.

The heavy IPO calendar gives investors several new issues to evaluate within a short period.

Investors considering any IPO should still examine factors such as the company’s financial performance, business model, risks, valuation and issue details rather than making a decision based only on overall market activity.

Fundraising Activity Picks Up

The IPO market had been relatively slower earlier in the year, but corporate fundraising activity has now gained momentum.

Companies are increasingly turning to the primary market to raise capital as IPO activity picks up. At the same time, investors have multiple new offerings competing for their attention and funds.

The six issues opening on September 9 alone are looking to raise around ₹4,509 crore, making the day significant both for the number of offerings and their combined size.

More IPO activity is also expected in the coming days, keeping India’s primary market in focus for investors.
