There is some good news for Indians living in the UAE. Passport, visa and document verification services have resumed through a new system, bringing relief to thousands of Indian residents.
The services are now being handled through 16 new Indian Consular Application Centers (ICACs) across the UAE.
However, there is one important step applicants must follow before visiting a center: an online appointment is required.
New Service Provider Starts Operations
Indian passport, visa and document verification services in the UAE are now being provided through Al Hind Tours & Travels.
The new arrangement came into effect on July 22, 2026.
Through the new centers, Indians can apply for or renew passports, submit visa applications and get documents verified.
Before visiting any center, applicants must book an appointment through the Consular Seva in UAE portal.
Why Was the Old System Changed?
The previous outsourcing contract ended on June 30, 2026.
Earlier, passport and visa-related services were handled by BLS International, while document verification was managed by SGIVS Global Services.
The change also became part of a legal dispute over the new tender process.
On July 15, the Delhi High Court cancelled the Ministry of External Affairs’ technical evaluation process, saying the evaluation of bidders was not transparent.
The court also directed the government to begin a fresh tender process.
This created uncertainty for many Indians in the UAE who regularly need passport, visa, power of attorney and other consular services.
Supreme Court Provides Interim Relief
The central government then approached the Supreme Court.
On July 21, the Supreme Court did not interfere with the High Court’s order.
However, it said that essential services should not stop while the new tender process is being completed.
The court allowed the government to continue with an interim arrangement so that Indians in the UAE would not face unnecessary difficulties.
According to reports, the government was also directed to complete the fresh process within three months.
What Should Applicants Do Now?
If you need passport, visa or document verification services in the UAE, follow these steps:
Book an appointment online through the Consular Seva in UAE portal.
Select the designated consular center.
Prepare all required documents.
Visit the center on your scheduled date and time.
If you already had an appointment, check the latest instructions before visiting.
The current arrangement is temporary and will continue until the new tender process is completed.
For Indians living in the UAE, the key takeaway is simple: services are available again, but make sure you book an appointment before visiting a consular center.
