IRCTC has launched the beta version of its new ticket booking website, bringing the biggest redesign in nearly 24 years.
The website now has a fresh look, a new color theme, and several user-friendly features to make online train ticket booking easier.
However, before you can book a ticket on the new website, you must complete two important verification steps. Without them, ticket booking will not be possible.
First Login? Verify Your Email and Mobile Number
You can log in to the new IRCTC website using your existing user ID and password.
But when you sign in for the first time, the website will ask you to verify the email address and mobile number linked to your account.
IRCTC has introduced this extra verification to improve account security.
OTPs will be sent to your registered email address and mobile number.
After entering both OTPs and completing the verification process, your account will be ready to use.
Once this one-time verification is completed, you won’t have to verify your email or mobile number every time you log in.
Aadhaar Verification Is Also Important
The new website also lets users check whether their Aadhaar card is linked to their IRCTC account.
To check this:
Log in to your IRCTC account.
Click on your User ID in the top-right corner.
Open My Profile.
Select the Authenticate User option.
If your Aadhaar is already linked, the status will be shown there.
If not, you will need to enter your Aadhaar details and complete the authentication process.
Aadhaar Linking Needed for Tatkal Ticket Booking
If you plan to book Tatkal train tickets through the IRCTC website, Aadhaar authentication is mandatory.
Users who have not linked and verified their Aadhaar will not be able to book Tatkal tickets online.
So, it is a good idea to complete the Aadhaar verification in advance to avoid any last-minute issues while booking.
With the new website, IRCTC aims to offer a smoother and more secure ticket booking experience.
