WhatsApp has announced a major update that brings several useful features for users.
The latest changes are designed to make everyday tasks easier, whether you’re chatting on an iPad, sharing music with friends, replying to messages while driving, or editing PDF files.
The rollout has already started, but some features may take a few days or weeks to appear on all supported devices.
WhatsApp Finally Comes to iPad as a Standalone App
One of the biggest updates is the launch of a standalone WhatsApp app for iPad.
Earlier, iPad users had to link WhatsApp with their smartphone to use the app. Now, that’s no longer necessary.
Users can create and use a WhatsApp account directly on an iPad without connecting it to an iPhone or Android phone.
This means the iPad can now work as an independent device for WhatsApp.
Sharing Music on Status Is Now Easier
WhatsApp has also made sharing music much more convenient.
Users can now share songs directly to their WhatsApp Status from supported apps like Apple Music and Spotify. Instead of copying links or manually adding song details, they can simply use the built-in Share option in these apps.
This makes posting your favorite tracks much faster and easier.
Better Support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
The update also improves WhatsApp’s experience in cars.
With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, users can now do more than just read and reply to messages.
The updated interface also supports WhatsApp voice calls, access to recent call history, and quick chats with favorite contacts through the car’s infotainment system.
These features are designed to help users stay connected while keeping their focus on driving.
Open and Edit PDFs Without Leaving WhatsApp
WhatsApp is also introducing useful PDF tools.
Users can now open PDF files inside WhatsApp without downloading them first. Basic editing features powered by Adobe Acrobat have also been added, allowing users to highlight text and make simple edits without switching to another app.
At the moment, some of these PDF editing tools are available only on WhatsApp Web and the desktop app. However, they are expected to reach more platforms in future updates.
