If you have not filed your Income Tax Return (ITR) yet, there is good news. You no longer need to visit the Income Tax portal to file your return. PhonePe and Jio Finance have introduced ITR filing services within their mobile apps.
The service starts at just ₹24, making it an affordable way to file your tax return. Users can also choose expert assistance if they need help with filing.
July 31 Is the Last Date to File ITR
With the July 31 ITR filing deadline approaching, fintech companies PhonePe and Jio Finance have launched this new service for taxpayers.
Both companies have partnered with TaxBuddy to provide ITR filing directly through their apps. This means users can complete the entire process on their mobile phones without visiting a separate website or the Income Tax portal.
Who Can Use This Service?
The service is available for salaried employees, professionals, and business owners. It is also useful for taxpayers whose income comes from sources other than salary, where tax filing is usually more complicated.
People with business income, capital gains, cryptocurrency income, foreign income, or F&O (Futures and Options) trading income can also use this service to file their returns.
Both PhonePe and Jio Finance offer two options:
Do-It-Yourself (DIY) ITR filing
Expert-assisted ITR filing
The DIY plan starts at just ₹24. However, if your tax return is more complex and you need professional help, you will have to pay an additional fee.
Jio Finance ITR Filing Charges
Jio Finance has shared its complete pricing list for ITR filing. For salaried individuals, plans range from ₹24 to ₹499.
For taxpayers with capital gains, cryptocurrency, or F&O income, plans start at ₹99. If you choose expert-assisted filing, the charges range from ₹649 to ₹2,924, depending on your tax requirements.
Extra Features and GST Return Filing
Jio Finance has also included several useful features with its tax filing service.
These include tax planning, comparison of the old and new tax regimes, estimation of deductions under Sections 80C and 80D, automatic data import,
and refund tracking. According to the company, the goal is to make the tax filing process simple, secure, and convenient for users.
