Aadhaar users are set to receive a useful benefit starting July 1, 2026.

For the next six months, you will be able to update your email address linked to Aadhaar completely free through the Aadhaar mobile app.

Normally, updating an email address in Aadhaar costs ₹75.

However, this fee has been temporarily waived, giving users a chance to update their details without spending any money.

Linking an email address to Aadhaar is just as important as linking a mobile number.

It helps you receive important notifications, updates, and even Aadhaar-related OTPs directly through email.

Free Service Available Only for a Limited Time

According to reports, the free email update facility will be available from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

However, there is one important condition.

The free service is available only when the update is done through the Aadhaar mobile app.

If you update your email address through the Aadhaar website or by visiting an Aadhaar enrollment center, the regular ₹75 fee will still apply.

UIDAI is expected to review the scheme after six months and decide whether to continue the free service or restore the fee.

What Do You Need to Update Your Email?

To update your Aadhaar-linked email address through the app, you will need:

A smartphone

An active internet connection

For Android users, the phone must be running Android 9.0 or above.

For iPhone users, the device must be running iOS 16.0 or above.

How to Check if Your Email Is Linked to Aadhaar

Not sure whether your email address is already linked to Aadhaar? You can check it in a few simple steps:

Visit the Email Verification page on the Aadhaar website or Aadhaar app.

Enter your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number.

Click on the Verify Email Address option.

Submit the request.

The system will show whether an email address is linked to your Aadhaar record.

Other Useful Services Available on the Aadhaar App

The Aadhaar app offers several services beyond email updates.

Users can access many Aadhaar-related features directly from their phones.

Some of the popular services include:

Mobile number update

Address update

Biometric lock and unlock

Authentication history check

e-Aadhaar download

Aadhaar contact card sharing

Request status tracking

Keep This Important Point in Mind

While email updates will be free during the six-month period, other demographic updates are not included in this benefit.

If you want to update details such as your name, address, or other personal information, you will still have to pay the standard fee of ₹75.

If your Aadhaar-linked email is outdated or missing, this limited-time free facility could be a good opportunity to update your records and ensure you receive important Aadhaar-related communications without any hassle.
