The price of 22-carat gold rose by ₹500 to ₹1,31,350 per 10 grams. Since 22-carat gold contains other metals mixed with gold, it is commonly used in jewellery manufacturing.

Meanwhile, 18-carat gold was reported at ₹1,07,570 per 10 grams in several major cities. Its price and daily movement differed by location, so buyers should check the latest local rate before making a purchase.

Silver Prices Remain Unchanged

While gold prices moved higher, silver prices remained unchanged in the reported domestic market. Silver was priced at ₹2,20,000 per kilogram, while 100 grams cost ₹22,000.

The difference in movement between the two precious metals highlights why buyers should monitor gold and silver separately rather than assuming both will rise or fall together.

Their prices respond to a range of market factors, including industrial demand, investment activity and international economic developments.

What Is Driving Gold Prices?

International market movements have been an important influence on domestic gold prices.

Gold was trading near $4,020 per ounce in the reported market update, recovering some support after earlier declines.

Investors are also monitoring the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision.

Gold does not pay interest, so expectations about interest rates and the strength of the US dollar can influence its attractiveness relative to interest-bearing investments.

Crude oil prices and inflation expectations are additional factors affecting market sentiment.

However, daily price increases do not guarantee that gold will continue to rise, and prices can change quickly as new economic information emerges.

For jewellery buyers, the displayed gold rate is only one part of the final cost.

GST, making charges and other applicable costs may increase the amount payable, so customers should confirm the final bill with their jeweller before purchasing.
