Aadhaar has become one of the most important documents for Indians today.
Whether you want to open a bank account, get a new SIM card, verify your identity, or access government schemes, Aadhaar is required almost everywhere.
But what happens if you lose your Aadhaar card and don’t even remember the 12-digit Aadhaar number? For many people, this situation can be stressful.
The good news is that UIDAI provides an easy online facility to recover your Aadhaar details without visiting an Aadhaar centre.
What information do you need?
Before starting the recovery process, make sure you have the details linked to your Aadhaar.
You will need:
Your full name as mentioned in Aadhaar
Registered mobile number, or
Registered email ID
If these details are available, you can recover your Aadhaar number within minutes.
How to recover your Aadhaar number online
The process is simple and can be completed from your smartphone or computer.
Step 1: Visit the UIDAI website
Go to the official UIDAI website and open the Aadhaar services section.
Step 2: Select the recovery option
Under the “My Aadhaar” section, click on the “Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID” option.
Step 3: Enter your details
Fill in your full name along with your registered mobile number or email address.
Step 4: Verify with OTP
Enter the captcha code shown on the screen and click on “Send OTP”. After receiving the OTP on your registered mobile number, enter it for verification.
Step 5: Get your Aadhaar number
Once the verification process is completed, UIDAI will send your Aadhaar number or Enrollment ID (EID) to your registered mobile number or email address.
UIDAI launches a new Aadhaar app
To make Aadhaar-related services more secure and convenient, UIDAI has also introduced a new Aadhaar app.
The new application is available on both Android and iOS devices and is gradually replacing the older mAadhaar app.
The updated platform aims to provide faster access to Aadhaar services with improved security features.
Why this facility is useful
Many people rush to cyber cafés or Aadhaar centres after losing their Aadhaar card.
However, if your mobile number or email is linked with Aadhaar, you can recover your details online in just a few minutes.
Knowing this process can save time, avoid unnecessary hassle, and help you access Aadhaar services whenever you need them.
