Pune district administration has imposed a 14-day restriction order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The move brings tighter rules on vehicle movement and increased monitoring in several parts of the city.

Officials say the restrictions are temporary and have been introduced to maintain law and order, reduce public inconvenience, and prevent possible disturbances.

What Changes Under the New Order?

Under the new restrictions, unnecessary vehicle movement will be limited in selected areas of Pune.

Police and civic officials have also been asked to increase surveillance and carry out stricter enforcement during this period.

Authorities say the main goal is to control:

Traffic disruptions

Crowd-related problems

Illegal activities

Public disturbances in sensitive areas

Police presence is expected to remain high until the restrictions are lifted.

Section 163 Imposed for 14 Days

Section 163 of BNSS allows district administrations to impose temporary restrictions when there is a possible threat to public safety or law and order.

According to officials, the current order will remain in force for 14 days.

However, the administration may extend the restrictions if needed depending on the situation in the city.

Police Checking Increased Across Pune

Police teams have reportedly increased checking operations in different parts of Pune.

Authorities are now closely monitoring:

Suspicious gatherings

Unauthorized public activities

Traffic rule violations

Sensitive public locations

Officials clarified that emergency services, essential services, and approved movement will continue without interruption.

Citizens Asked to Follow Rules

The administration has requested residents to cooperate with officials and follow all restriction guidelines carefully.

People have also been advised not to spread rumours or misinformation on social media.

Authorities warned that strict action may be taken against those violating the temporary order.

Why Authorities Are Using Such Measures

Large cities like Pune are witnessing increasing challenges related to traffic congestion, crowd control, and public order.

Officials say preventive measures like these are being used more frequently to avoid bigger law-and-order problems before they happen.

For now, security and monitoring are expected to stay tight across affected areas until the 14-day restriction period ends.
