Ganga Expressway Free Travel Ends Tonight

People travelling on the newly opened Ganga Expressway should now get ready to pay toll charges. The 15-day free travel period on the expressway will end at midnight today. After that, toll collection will officially begin.

The 594-kilometre-long expressway was inaugurated by Narendra Modi on April 29. It connects Meerut to Prayagraj and has greatly reduced travel time between the two cities.

Meerut to Prayagraj Journey Now Takes Just 6 Hours

Travelers can now complete the journey from Bijauli in Meerut to Judapur in Prayagraj in around six hours. T

he Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will start collecting toll tax from midnight on May 14.

The expressway follows a closed toll system. This means drivers will pay toll charges based on the exact distance they travel.

Toll Charges for Cars, Jeeps and Vans

People travelling by car, jeep, or van will have to pay ₹2.55 per kilometre as toll tax.

For the full Meerut-to-Prayagraj route, the total toll for car owners will be around ₹1,515 through FASTag.

Heavy Vehicles Will Pay Higher Toll

Heavy vehicles like buses and trucks will be charged ₹8.20 per kilometre. This means travelling the full route could cost around ₹4,840 in toll tax.

Light commercial vehicles, including minibuses and LCVs, will pay ₹4.05 per kilometre. Their total toll for the full journey will be around ₹2,405.

Toll Rates Fixed for Bikes and Tractors Too

Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and tractors will be charged ₹1.28 per kilometre.

For extra-large vehicles with seven or more axles, the toll rate can go up to ₹16.10 per kilometre.

Expressway Connects 12 Districts of Uttar Pradesh

The Ganga Expressway improves connectivity between several important districts of Uttar Pradesh.

These include Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj.

In return for the toll charges, travelers will get faster travel, better road safety, and modern facilities during the journey.
