Preparations are moving fast for the 11 model high schools being built in the district under the Chief Minister’s Seven Resolves Scheme-3. After student admissions are completed, specialist teachers will be appointed in these schools.
For this process, senior officials including the DM, DDC, and DEO have already conducted interviews of teachers.
However, becoming a teacher in these model schools is proving to be very difficult. Even teachers who have faced interviews conducted by UPSC and BPSC officials are struggling to secure selection here.
Teachers Must Score 50 Merit Points
The Education Department has now released new guidelines for teacher deployment in these schools.
According to the rules, teachers scoring less than 50 out of 100 merit points will not be considered eligible for appointment in model schools.
These merit points were given based on:
Interview performance
Educational qualifications like PhD and B.Ed
Teaching experience
E-content teaching skills
Innovation in teaching methods
After the interviews, only a few teachers managed to score between 70 and 80 points. Most candidates scored below 50.
Schools May Face Teacher Shortage
The Education Department was trying to fill 107 vacant teaching posts in the model schools. But because many teachers failed to meet the required merit score, only a limited number may finally get selected.
Reports suggest that:
RMK School may get only 7 to 8 teachers
Model schools in each block may receive just 1 or 2 teachers
This is surprising because more than 150 teachers had applied online for these posts.
Teachers Will Get Extra Benefits
Earlier, on Tuesday, the Education Department had announced incentive allowances for teachers posted in model schools.
Teachers selected for these schools will also receive residential facilities on campus.
Apart from this, each school will get resources worth more than Rs 1 crore to improve facilities and education quality.
Students studying in these schools will also receive separate uniforms prepared through Jeevika Didi groups.
