A new biometric feature has been added to the BHIM app, allowing users to make UPI payments of up to ₹5,000 using only their fingerprint or face recognition.
This means users will no longer need to enter a UPI PIN for these transactions. The feature is designed to make payments faster, easier, and more secure.
No Need to Enter UPI PIN for Small Payments
With this update, users can avoid entering their UPI PIN for every small transaction. Many people forget their PIN or enter it incorrectly, which often leads to payment failures. This new system helps reduce such issues and makes the payment process smoother, quicker, and more reliable.
Works on Android and iOS Devices
This biometric payment feature works on both Android and iOS devices that support fingerprint or face recognition. Users can use it to:
Send money to friends or family
Pay by scanning QR codes
Make online transactions
For security, fingerprint and face data are unique to each user and are stored securely on the device, which reduces the risk of fraud. However, for transactions above ₹5,000, entering the UPI PIN will still be required.
How to Activate the Feature
To enable this feature, users need to:
Open the BHIM app
Go to their profile
Select their bank account
Enable the biometric transaction option
After activation, users can start making payments easily using their fingerprint or face recognition.
