WhatsApp is testing a new feature called the Meta AI tab, which could change the way users interact with artificial intelligence inside the app.

The feature is currently being tested in the Android beta version of WhatsApp.

Its main purpose is to bring all AI tools and conversations into one place, making them easier for users to access.

A New Space for AI Inside WhatsApp

The new Meta AI tab was discovered in recent beta versions of the app available on the Google Play Store, including version 2.26.10.5.

For users who have access to the test feature, the AI tab appears in the bottom navigation bar of the app.

It replaces the Communities shortcut, although community chats can still be accessed from the main chat section.

With this change, users will be able to open AI conversations directly from the new tab instead of searching through different sections of the app.

One Hub for Multiple AI Tools

The Meta AI tab works as a central hub for several AI-powered tools.

From this single section, users can:

Ask questions to the AI assistant

Start chatbot-style conversations

Generate images using AI

Animate visuals

Explore suggested prompts for different tasks

This makes it easier for people to experiment with AI features without leaving the messaging app.

Voice Conversations With AI

WhatsApp is also testing real-time voice interaction with AI.

Users will be able to start a live voice conversation with Meta AI by tapping a voice button in the search bar or using a shortcut in the app menu.

This feature aims to make AI interactions feel more natural, similar to talking with a virtual assistant.

AI Conversations Will Be Easier to Find

Another useful feature is how WhatsApp organizes AI chats.

Each time a user sends a new prompt, the app automatically creates a separate conversation thread.

WhatsApp also assigns titles to these chats, making it easier to find and revisit earlier AI interactions later.

This helps keep AI conversations organized while preventing the main chat list from becoming cluttered.

When Will the Feature Be Available?

For now, the Meta AI tab is only available to a small group of Android beta testers and is still under development.

Although Meta Platforms has not announced an official launch date, the company is expected to expand testing gradually if the feature performs well.

If introduced widely, the Meta AI tab could become the main gateway for AI tools inside WhatsApp, while still keeping regular chats and communities easy to access.
