Volkswagen is known in India for making premium and fun-to-drive cars. Now, the company has shared its roadmap for 2026 and confirmed that it plans to launch 5 new cars this year.

The main highlight of this lineup will be Volkswagen’s flagship SUV, the Tayron R-Line.

Although details about the other four models have not been officially revealed yet, Volkswagen has confirmed that it will launch cars in different body styles, including SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks. Let’s look at the possible upcoming models.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: New Flagship SUV

Volkswagen recently introduced the Tayron R-Line as its new 7-seater flagship SUV, positioned above the Tiguan R-Line.

The Tayron R-Line is basically a larger version of the Tiguan R-Line, with an extra row of seats, making it more practical for families.

It comes with the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine as the Tiguan R-Line, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

This SUV is expected to launch soon and will be assembled in India. Because of this, its price could be around ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Other Upcoming Launches

Taigun and Virtus Facelift Models

Volkswagen is also expected to update its Indian portfolio with facelift versions of the Taigun and Virtus.

The Taigun facelift has already been spotted during testing several times. Both models are likely to get:

Updated exterior design

Slightly redesigned cabin layout

More features to compete with rivals

They will continue to offer the existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines. However, like the Skoda Kushaq, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine may be updated with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox.

These updates will help Volkswagen extend the lifecycle of its important India-made models and keep them fresh against new competitors.

More Units of Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen has also promised to launch a new hatchback. This suggests that the company may bring a second batch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, as the previous limited allotment received a very good response.

This hot hatch sold out in record time and offers:

A powerful 265 PS turbo-petrol engine

Sharp handling

Strong performance for car enthusiasts

A New Premium SUV

Towards the end of this year, Volkswagen is expected to introduce a new premium SUV. It could be:

A locally assembled Tiguan (currently imported), or

The new-generation T-Roc (likely to be imported)

Currently, there is a big gap between the Taigun and Tayron in Volkswagen’s lineup. This new SUV could fit between these two models.

Another possible option could be a Volkswagen version of the Skoda Kylaq, which would target the mass-market segment.

What’s Next for Volkswagen?

Apart from the Tayron R-Line, the Taigun and Virtus facelift models are likely to arrive soon. The remaining SUV and hatchback models will complete Volkswagen’s plan to launch five cars in 2026.

Now it remains to be seen which exact models Volkswagen will finally introduce in India.
