Elon Musk has once again given a strong hint about changes coming to the social media platform X. Earlier, Musk had openly accepted that X does not pay its content creators fairly.
Now, he has suggested that creators’ earnings on X could be increased so the platform can compete directly with big players like YouTube.
X Plans to Improve Creator Payments
When a user demanded better payments for creators, Elon Musk responded by tagging Nikita Bier, the Head of Product at X.
Musk clearly said that steps should be taken to increase creator earnings. However, he also emphasized that strict action is necessary to prevent misuse of the payment system.
Nikita Bier replied quickly, saying that the team is already working on this issue. He also expressed confidence in a new technology that can remove most fake and fraudulent practices, such as fake engagement and scams.
Creators React Positively, YouTube Comparison Grows
After Musk’s statement, many creators and users welcomed the idea and called it an important change. Independent journalist Nick Shirley also shared his views.
He said that although X has not yet matched YouTube’s AdSense earning model, it performs better when it comes to reaching a large audience and allowing videos with less censorship.
According to him, many creators were not posting seriously on X because earnings were low. If creator payments increase, this mindset could change, and more quality content may appear on the platform.
Importance of Real Creators in the AI Era
Several users also pointed out that in the future, only platforms that pay creators fairly will survive. With AI-generated content growing rapidly online, the value of real, human-created and trustworthy content is becoming more important than ever.
Musk’s move comes at a time when digital platforms are struggling to maintain authentic and credible content.
Musk Earlier Admitted X Pays Less Than YouTube
This is not the first time Elon Musk has spoken about this issue. In October last year, he openly admitted that X does not pay creators properly. At that time, he clearly stated that YouTube does a much better job in terms of creator payments.
The Creator Monetization Program on X, launched under Musk, currently shares advertising revenue with creators. However, it has been criticized for unclear rules, delayed payments, and irregular earnings.
Focus on Transparency and Strict Action
Musk’s latest comments suggest that X plans to not only increase creator earnings but also take strict action against people who misuse the system using bots
and fake engagement. If these plans are implemented properly, X could become a serious competitor to YouTube in the creator economy.
