On the occasion of the New Year, Indian Railways has introduced a special benefit for passengers. To promote Digital India
and make travel easier, Railways has announced incentives for booking unreserved (general) tickets online. Passengers booking through the RailOne app will now get a direct 3% discount on ticket fares.
How to Avail the Discount
According to a railway release, passengers can get the discount by booking unreserved tickets on the RailOne app using UPI, debit cards, credit cards, or net banking. The 3% discount applies to all digital payment methods except R-Wallet.
R-Wallet Users
Passengers using R-Wallet will continue to enjoy their existing benefits. They will receive the usual three bonuses/cashbacks on recharge. This ensures that all types of digital payment users get rewards in some form.
When the Scheme Starts
The scheme will begin on January 14, 2026 (Makar Sankranti), and will run as a pilot project until July 14, 2026.
During this period, Indian Railways will collect feedback from passengers and monitor the system’s performance.

This initiative is expected to reduce long queues at ticket counters. The RailOne app is a convenient, one-stop solution for ticket booking and now also provides financial benefits.
