To improve the traffic system in Muzaffarpur, the district administration has introduced a new arrangement for autos and e-rickshaws.
Under this system, all autos and e-rickshaws operating on 20 fixed routes across four zones will be fitted with QR codes.
By scanning the QR code, complete details of the auto will be available, including the vehicle number, approved route, driver’s name, and driving license information.
QR Code System Made Mandatory
The QR code system will help traffic police check whether an auto is running on its approved route. It will also allow passengers to easily identify the driver and vehicle details.
According to DTO Kumar Satyendra Yadav, QR codes will soon be issued for all autos and e-rickshaws and must be displayed on the vehicles. The Transport Department has already started generating these QR codes.
Approval Given to 4,800 Autos
A total of 4,800 autos and e-rickshaws have been approved to operate in the urban area.
Because of this large number, it was earlier difficult to identify which auto was running on which route. The new QR code system is expected to solve this problem and bring better control over traffic movement.
Auto distribution details:
Total autos and e-rickshaws: 4,800
Autos on fixed routes: 4,200
Reserve autos (free zone): 600
City divided into: 4 zones and 20 routes
Zone-wise Routes and Color Coding
To make identification easier, autos and e-rickshaws have been color-coded according to zones:
Zone 1: 5 routes – Orange color
Zone 2: 7 routes – Purple color
Zone 3: 6 routes – Light Red color
Zone 4 (Free Zone/Reserve): Light Brown / White color
Vehicles will not be allowed to operate outside their assigned routes.
Reserve Auto Facility and Other Rules
Separate numbers will be issued for reserved autos, and stopping points will be created at major intersections. A facility to book autos by phone call will also be introduced.
Autos coming from rural areas will not be allowed to enter the city. Entry points have been fixed at places such as Bairia, Zeromile, Mithanpura, Ramdayalu, and Bhagwanpur. However, autos carrying emergency patients will be exempted from this rule.
Strict Action From January
The district administration has taken these steps to improve the city’s worsening traffic condition.
From January, strict action will be taken against autos and e-rickshaws that violate the new rules. This system aims to ensure better traffic management and safer travel for city residents.
