Passengers with railway reservations should be prepared for a short inconvenience this weekend.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) will carry out maintenance work on their databases from 11:45 PM on November 1 to 5:30 AM on November 2.
During this time, passengers won’t be able to make reservations, access charting, or use internet booking and inquiry services through 139 or railway apps.
The maintenance will last for about five and a half hours, so passengers planning to travel during this period are advised to complete bookings in advance.
Light Rush on Vikramshila Express, But Local Trains See Crowds
After the Chhath Puja rush, the Vikramshila Express saw a surprisingly low number of passengers on Tuesday.
Although the train has four general coaches that can accommodate around 400 passengers each, only about 150 passengers boarded.
Thanks to this, railway staff and police didn’t face the usual festive chaos.
However, officials expect crowds to rise again from Wednesday.
In contrast, local trains and the Janseva Express from Bhagalpur to Muzaffarpur were packed.
The Janseva Express left Bhagalpur 30 minutes late, mainly because the incoming train was delayed by two hours.
Similarly, the Garib Rath Express from Delhi also ran behind schedule by over three hours, leaving Bhagalpur at 4 PM instead of 1:30 PM.
These delays caused inconvenience to many passengers waiting at the station.
Engine Failure Causes Two-Hour Delay for New Farakka Express
In another setback, the New Farakka Express (14003 Up) faced an engine failure near Maharajpur station on Tuesday morning.
The issue disrupted train movement between Sahibganj and Bhagalpur from 11:25 AM to 1:30 PM.
The faulty engine was replaced, and services resumed after two hours.
As a result, the train that was supposed to arrive at 1 PM reached around 3 PM.
The delay also affected other trains, including the Malda Town–Anand Vihar Express, which reached Bhagalpur two hours late.
