Razorpay Introduces Biometric Payments with Yes Bank

This new service was announced by Razorpay CEO Harshil Mathur at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025.

Why Biometric Payments?

Traditionally, card payments required entering an OTP or PIN.

However, OTPs often got delayed due to network issues, leading to 5–10% failed transactions, Mathur explained. To solve this, Razorpay has introduced a biometric option.

Instead of entering an OTP, you can now simply use Face ID or fingerprint on your phone to complete the transaction.

Benefits of the New System

Mathur highlighted two key advantages:

Better security – Biometric data is harder to misuse.

Higher success rate – No delays or failed transactions due to OTP issues.

He added that this is the next generation of payments, helping India move forward on a global level and making transactions faster and safer.

A Big Step in Digital Payments

This launch is another milestone in India’s digital payments ecosystem, showing how fintech companies are focusing on security, innovation, and user convenience.
