The launch comes as YouTube Music and Premium together have crossed 125 million subscribers worldwide (including trial users).

YouTube said, “Since launching YouTube Music and Premium, we’ve been working to give subscribers more ways to enjoy their favorite content.

Premium Lite is another step in that direction. These plans also create more revenue opportunities for our creators and partners.”

Why Premium Lite Stands Out

The new plan is designed to cater to India’s diverse audience. It helps users watch their favorite creators’ content with minimal interruptions.

YouTube explained that they are testing Premium Lite to find the right balance of features and benefits for viewers who mainly want ad-free videos.

Where Can You Use It?

Premium Lite works across all devices — phones, laptops, and TVs. However, some ads may still appear while watching music content, Shorts, or while browsing.

For users who want completely ad-free music on YouTube and YouTube Music, along with offline downloads and background play, YouTube recommends upgrading to the full Premium plan.

The company confirmed that Premium Lite is currently rolling out, with full nationwide availability expected in the coming weeks.
