Starting October 1, 2025, several important rules will come into effect across the country, affecting daily activities such as railway ticket booking, digital payments, online gaming, and the National Pension System (NPS).
Changes in train ticket booking
The biggest update will be in railway ticket booking. For the first 15 minutes of general ticket booking on IRCTC, only passengers with Aadhaar-linked and fully verified accounts will be able to book tickets.
This aims to make booking more transparent and reduce the role of brokers and agents. The rule will help manage rush periods during festivals and weddings. Booking from pre-offline PRS counters will remain unchanged.
New rule in digital payments
The digital payment sector will see a major update. From October 1, the “request for money” feature in UPI will be discontinued by the NPCI.
Apps like Google Pay and PhonePe will no longer allow this feature. The change is intended to protect users from online fraud and phishing attacks.
Changes in the pension scheme
The National Pension System (NPS) will introduce a new multiple scheme framework.
This will allow non-government employees, corporate professionals, and gig workers to invest in multiple pension schemes using a single PAN number, giving them flexibility to choose schemes based on convenience and risk preferences.
New rules for online gaming
The online gaming sector will face stricter regulations from October 1.
The government-approved law will closely monitor online gaming companies to protect players from fraud and scams, make gaming more secure and transparent, and ban illegal money-based games.
Through these changes, the government aims to ensure transparency and security, preventing fraud and irregularities across sectors, and safeguarding the interests of the general public.
