Indian Railways has announced a big relief for passengers. The Railway Board has reduced the prices of bottled drinking water.
As per Commercial Circular No. 18/2025, Rail Neer and other packaged water brands approved by the Railways will now be available at lower rates.
This change will directly benefit passengers, as bottled water will now cost less on trains and at railway stations.
What are the new prices of Rail Neer?
According to the Railway Board’s latest order:
A 1-litre bottle of Rail Neer will now cost ₹14 (earlier ₹15).
A 500 ml bottle will now cost ₹9 (earlier ₹10).
Other packaged brands also cheaper
Not just Rail Neer, but the prices of other packaged water brands approved by Indian Railways and IRCTC have also been revised. Their rates are now the same:
1-litre bottle – ₹14
500 ml bottle – ₹9
Earlier, these were priced at ₹15 and ₹10 respectively.
From when will the new rates apply?
The Railway Board has confirmed that the new rates will be effective nationwide from 22 September 2025.
This means that from this date, passengers will get water bottles at the reduced prices both on trains and at railway stations.
A big relief for passengers
Indian Railways is the world’s largest rail network, carrying millions of passengers every day. Water is one of the most essential needs during travel, especially in summer.
The reduction in prices will directly ease travel expenses for passengers, particularly on long-distance routes where buying water multiple times is common.
Railways’ passenger-friendly move
The Railway Board has taken this decision keeping passenger convenience and budget in mind.
Rail Neer prices had not been revised for years, and this step further strengthens the Railways’ image as a “passenger-friendly organization.”
