New Delhi: Banks in several cities across India will remain closed on different days between August 13 and August 17, 2025, due to regional festivals, national holidays, and the weekend, as per the RBI holiday calendar.
However, it’s important to note that not all banks will be closed on all four days. The closures will vary depending on the city and the reason for the holiday.
Bank Holidays From August 13 to August 17, 2025
August 13 (Wednesday):
Banks will be closed in Imphal for Patriot’s Day.
August 15 (Friday):
Banks across India will be closed for Independence Day, and in some regions for Parsi New Year and Janmashtami.
August 16 (Saturday):
Banks will be closed in the following cities due to Janmashtami and Krishna Jayanthi:
Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bhopal, Ranchi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Shillong, Jammu, Srinagar, Vijayawada.
August 17 (Sunday):
Banks will be closed nationwide due to the regular weekend holiday.
Important Notes for Customers
These are not consecutive holidays in all cities. The number of days banks are closed depends on the location and local holidays.
For example, Agartala banks will be closed for the Birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, which is not observed in other states.
