A major panic occurred on an IndiGo Airlines flight (6E 5118) just 10 minutes after it took off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). The flight was headed to Imphal but had to turn back due to a technical fault.
What happened during the flight?
The flight took off at around 10:25 AM on June 17, 2025, though it was already 9 minutes late from the scheduled time. As the plane climbed towards its usual flying height and was flying over Jewar in Uttar Pradesh, the pilot noticed a technical issue in the aircraft.
This immediately caused concern for the pilots, and the captain made an announcement to the passengers, which created a bit of panic inside the plane.
The plane circled over Jewar for some time, and the captain and co-pilot decided not to continue the journey under such conditions. They informed the Delhi Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the situation and decided to return to IGI Airport.
Passenger Reaction
Passengers became worried after hearing about the technical fault. Many passengers later said they were only praying for a safe landing at Delhi.
Safe Landing at IGI Airport
Thanks to the pilots’ timely decision, the flight landed safely back at Delhi Airport within a few minutes. Only after landing did the passengers and crew feel fully relieved.
What Did IndiGo Say?
IndiGo Airlines confirmed that flight 6E 5118 from Delhi to Imphal faced a technical issue shortly after takeoff. As a precautionary measure, the captain decided to return to Delhi. IndiGo stated that this decision was taken keeping the safety of passengers and crew as the top priority.
