At the Seoul Mobility Show 2025, Hyundai has unveiled its new hydrogen-powered vehicle: the Hyundai NEXO.
The car represents a significant leap in hydrogen mobility with advanced fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technology.
This mid-size SUV not only showcases the future of green technology but also offers impressive design, performance, and tech features.
Features of the Hyundai NEXO:
1. 700 km Range with a 5-Minute Charge:
The most striking feature of the NEXO is its range. Hyundai claims the NEXO can cover up to 700 km on a 5-minute hydrogen refuel.
This drastically reduces the waiting time compared to electric vehicles (EVs) that take much longer to charge, making the NEXO highly practical for long-distance travel.
2. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) Technology:
The Hyundai NEXO is equipped with second-generation FCEV technology, which provides zero tailpipe emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment.
This positions the NEXO as a leader in hydrogen mobility.
3. Design:
INITIUM Concept: The NEXO is built on the INITIUM concept, which was unveiled in October 2024.
The SUV sports the “Art of Steel” design, showcasing a rugged and off-road-ready look.
4 Dot Lamps: These lamps ensure enhanced night visibility, adding a unique and futuristic aesthetic.
Boot Space: The car offers 993 liters of boot space, making it highly practical for carrying luggage or other cargo.
4. Interior:
The interior of the NEXO is designed with a focus on comfort and premium quality:
A curved, driver-centric display and island-type center console make the cabin more futuristic.
Digital side mirrors enhance the vehicle’s sleek design while offering additional safety and convenience.
Spacious seating: The first row features premium seats, while the second row offers improved headroom, shoulder room, and legroom, ensuring comfort for all passengers.
5. Performance:
The NEXO is powered by a 2.64 kWh battery pack that helps it accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds.
The hydrogen fuel cell stack generates 147 BHP while the battery provides an additional 201 BHP, offering a smooth and powerful driving experience.
6. Hydrogen Tank:
The vehicle is equipped with a hydrogen tank that holds 6.69 kg of hydrogen.
The tank can be filled in just 5 minutes, and once filled, the car can travel up to 700 km on a single tank of hydrogen.
7. Safety Features:
The NEXO includes 9 airbags, ensuring the safety of passengers and the hydrogen tank during a collision.
It also comes with the latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to further enhance driving safety.
8. Color Options:
The Hyundai NEXO will be available in six color options:
Creamy White Pearl
Phantom Black Pearl
Amazon Gray Metallic
Ocean Indigo Matte
Ecotronic Gray Pearl
Goyo Copper Pearl
