PM Modi launches Bima Sakhi Yojana for Women

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Bima Sakhi Yojana of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on 9 December in Panipat, Haryana.

The scheme aims to make women self-reliant and promote women’s empowerment. At the event, PM Modi emphasized India’s continuous efforts toward empowering women.

He also symbolically handed over appointment letters to some Bima Sakhis.

Training and Earnings for Women

Under the Bima Sakhi Yojana, women will receive special training to become LIC agents.

During the training period, they will be provided a stipend of ₹5,000 to ₹7,000 per month, along with commissions based on their performance.

Who Can Apply?

1) The scheme is exclusively for women.

2) Applicants must have at least a 10th pass certificate.

3) The age limit for applying is 18 to 70 years.

Structured Stipend and Growth Opportunities

The scheme offers financial support for the first three years to promote financial literacy and insurance awareness.

Monthly Stipend

First year: ₹7,000 per month (total ₹84,000).

Second year: ₹6,000 per month (total ₹72,000).

Third year: ₹5,000 per month (total ₹60,000).

Career Growth

1) After training, women can work as LIC agents.

2) Graduate Bima Sakhis can also get opportunities to become Development Officers at LIC.

In addition to the stipend, participants will earn commissions, increasing their overall income and career prospects.

This initiative aims to empower women financially and provide them with opportunities for professional growth in the insurance sector.

Additionally, women who complete their training successfully will have the opportunity to work as LIC Agents.

Graduate Bima Sakhis will be eligible for roles like Development Officer at LIC.
