The Delhi government, led by Atishi, has taken an important decision in its cabinet meeting. The Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy has been extended until March 2025
Starting January 1, 2024, people buying electric vehicles will receive a subsidy and exemption from road tax.
During a press conference, Atishi explained that the decision was made to tackle Delhi’s poor air quality.
She stated, “Electric vehicles purchased on or after January 1, 2024, will get subsidies and road tax exemptions, which were stopped earlier when Arvind Kejriwal was jailed.”
Introduction of Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry
Atishi also shared that the Delhi government will launch a new 4-year Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Optometry.
The course will be offered at a new wing of the Guru Nanak Eye Centre, helping to expand educational opportunities in the healthcare field.
Financial Support for Pending Employee Salaries
The Delhi government also approved a grant of ₹17 crore for the Delhi Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation Limited (DSFDC).
This grant will be used to clear the pending salaries of DSFDC employees.
New Degree Programme in Optometry
In another announcement, Atishi introduced a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Optometry. This program will be offered at the new wing of the Guru Nanak Eye Centre.

In another key decision, the Delhi Cabinet has approved a grant of Rs 17 crore for the Delhi Scheduled Caste Finance
and Development Corporation Limited (DSFDC). This grant will help clear pending salaries for the corporation’s employees.
