Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the Citizen Registration System (CRS) mobile application at Census Bhawan.
This app allows people to register for birth and death certificates from home. The app was launched on October 29,
and during the event, Amit Shah emphasized that it will make the registration process much easier, helping people avoid long queues and visits to government offices.
How the App Works
Users need to register the birth or death record online within 21 days. After registration, the record will be sent to the registrar’s office for verification.
Once verified, the certificate will be available online. Anyone can use this app from anywhere in the country.
With the CRS app, users need to register the birth or death of a person online within 21 days.
Late Fees for Registration
If a person fails to register within 21 days, they will face additional fees. Specifically, a fee of Rs 2 will apply if registration is done between 22 to 30 days.
For registrations from 31 days to one year late, a fee of Rs 5 will be charged. Additionally, for older certificates, a fee of Rs 10 is set. Therefore, the maximum late fee is Rs 10.
Amit Shah noted that this app allows citizens to register in their state’s official language anytime, reducing hassle and helping prevent fraud related to birth and death certificates.
According to media reports, individuals must pay Rs 2 if they register between 22 and 30 days after the event.
