The company also highlighted that even with the slight increase, the prices of MGL’s CNG and domestic PNG remain among the lowest in the country.

Why increase the price

Mahanagar Gas stated, “To address rising demand in the CNG and domestic piped natural gas (PNG) sectors, and in response to reduced domestic gas allocations, we are procuring additional natural gas (imported LNG) at market prices. This has led to an increase in the cost of gas.”

CNG had become expensive in Delhi too

On June 22, Indraprastha Gas Ltd, the city gas licensee for the national capital and surrounding cities, increased the price of CNG in Delhi by Rs 1 per kg to Rs 75.09.
