Uber, the well-known taxi service provider, has recently acquired a license to operate buses.
This means that in the near future, you will be able to book not only taxis and autos but also buses through the Uber app.
Uber has received an aggregator license from the Delhi Transport Department.
It will soon introduce its services in the national capital as part of the Delhi Premium Bus Scheme.
Uber Shuttle service will be launched soon in Delhi
Amit Deshpande, the head of Uber Shuttle India, announced that Uber is the first company to obtain this license. Uber will soon introduce its bus service, Uber Shuttle, in Delhi.
Deshpande mentioned that they recently conducted a pilot program in this area.
Following its significant success, we are now preparing to officially launch the bus service under Uber Shuttle.
Passengers will be able to reserve their preferred seats on these buses by selecting the Uber Shuttle option within the Uber app.
Daily commuters will get convenience
Uber has introduced this bus service to make daily commuting more convenient for travelers.
Office-goers particularly appreciate this type of service.
The pilot testing for this service took place in Delhi-NCR and received positive feedback.
Additionally, the Uber shuttle service has been operational in Kolkata since last year, following the signing of an MoU between Uber and the West Bengal government.
Uber buses will be equipped with these features
As per the information, passengers can reserve seats on Uber shuttle buses up to a week ahead.
The Uber app will provide live updates on the buses’ location and routes. The estimated arrival time at the destination will also be displayed.
Each bus can accommodate between 19 to 50 passengers.
Uber will collaborate with local fleet partners for this service.
