If you’re looking for a fuel-efficient and eco-friendly family car, the next few years will be exciting. Four major carmakers—Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, and Renault—are all set to launch their hybrid family cars in India by 2026–2027.
What’s Coming?
India’s biggest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, will bring a sub-4 metre MPV inspired by the Japan-spec Suzuki Spacia, powered by its in-house strong hybrid engine.
Along with this, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are expected to launch hybrid variants in 2026 and 2027.
Also making a big return is the Renault Duster, which will launch in 2026 with a new hybrid powertrain.
Let’s take a closer look at these top 4 upcoming hybrid family cars in India.
1. Kia Seltos Hybrid
The next-generation Kia Seltos will get a major design update, likely inspired by the global Kia Sportage SUV. Its interior will also be upgraded, possibly with features seen in the upcoming Kia Syros.
Kia is expected to introduce a 1.5L petrol-hybrid engine, which could be available only on the top variants, alongside the existing engine choices.
2. Maruti Mini MPV
Maruti Suzuki’s strong hybrid system (HEV), developed in-house, will likely debut with the Fronx in early 2026.
This same hybrid setup will power the next-gen Baleno and a new compact MPV, which will feature a tall and boxy look, similar to the Spacia, as per reports.
This upcoming mini MPV will be powered by a 1.2L Z-Series petrol-hybrid engine, expected to offer a high fuel efficiency of over 35 km/l.
3. Hyundai Creta Hybrid
The next-gen Hyundai Creta, codenamed SX3, is expected to launch in 2027. Its hybrid version, arriving in 2026, may use the same 1.5L petrol-hybrid engine as the Seltos.
Hyundai will likely keep its current engine range:
115 bhp 1.5L petrol
160 bhp 1.5L turbo petrol
116 bhp 1.5L diesel
In addition, the Creta will get a major upgrade in design, features, and interior layout.
4. Renault Duster Hybrid
The third-generation Renault Duster is coming back to India with petrol and petrol-hybrid versions.
The regular petrol model may use a 1.0L naturally aspirated or 1.3L turbo engine.
The hybrid model is expected to have a 94 bhp 1.6L petrol engine, paired with two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery. This setup could deliver a combined output of 140 bhp.
These upcoming hybrid models aim to offer better mileage, lower emissions, and affordable green mobility, making them ideal choices for Indian families in the coming years.
