Anonymous Visa Fraud Reports Now Allowed
A major feature of the new system is that a person can submit a report without providing their identity.
The State Department says providing a name and email address is voluntary, although contact details can allow officials to follow up if they need additional information.
The department also says that providing detailed information can improve the chances of a report supporting a successful investigation.
However, anonymous reporting may limit the department’s ability to obtain additional information from the person who submitted the tip.
The separate USCIS secure tip portal also provides an option to submit certain immigration fraud and abuse reports anonymously and allows supporting documents or images to be uploaded.
