If PF is deducted from your salary every month, keeping your EPFO nominee details updated is important.
Family situations can change after marriage, the birth of a child or other changes in the family.
If your old nominee is still registered in your EPFO account, your family could face difficulties while claiming the PF or pension money in the future.
The good news is that you can update your PF nominee online from your phone or laptop without visiting a government office.
Why Should You Update Your EPFO Nominee?
Your PF account is meant to provide financial security for the future.
However, if your family details have changed and the nominee information has not been updated, it can create problems when your family needs to claim the money.
Updating the nominee details on time can help ensure that your PF benefits are passed on according to your latest nomination.
How to Login and Start E-Nomination
First, open a browser on your phone or computer and search for the official EPFO website.
Log in using your UAN, password and captcha.
Once your EPFO dashboard opens, go to the Manage section in the menu.
From the drop-down menu, select E-NOMINATION.
Enter the Nominee’s Details
You will now be asked whether you have a family. Select “Yes” if applicable.
Next, enter the nominee’s details, including:
Aadhaar number
Name
Date of birth
Relationship with you
Address
You will also need to upload the nominee’s passport-size photograph.
If you want to add more than one nominee, click “Add Row” and enter the details of the additional nominee.
After entering all the information, click “Save Family Details.”
Decide How Much PF Share Each Nominee Gets
If you have added nominees, you also need to specify how much of your PF amount each nominee should receive.
You will see a percentage (%) field under Total amount of share.
If there is only one nominee, enter 100%.
If there are multiple nominees, you can divide the PF amount between them by assigning the appropriate percentage to each person.
Once the allocation is complete, click “Save EPF e-Nomination.”
Complete Aadhaar-Based E-Sign Verification
After saving the nomination, you will see “e-Sign Pending”.
Click on the e-Sign option to complete the process.
Enter your Aadhaar number and click “Send OTP.” Complete the verification using the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
Once the verification is successful, you will receive a “Nomination Successful” message.
Updating your nominee details now can help avoid unnecessary complications for your family when they need to access your PF benefits in the future.
