There is exciting news for farmers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency.
Under the Agricultural Entrepreneur Self-Reliance Scheme, 20 new ‘One Stop Shops’ will be established in Varanasi this financial year. Beneficiaries have already been trained
and selected. Farmers will soon have easy access to fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and agricultural equipment all in one place.
So far, a total of 120 ‘One Stop Shops’ (also known as agrijunction centers) have been opened in Varanasi as part of the Krishi Udyami Swavalamban Yojana. The target for this year is to add 20 more shops.
Loan and Subsidy Support for Setting Up Shops
This scheme aims to provide employment to unemployed youth under 40 years of age who hold a degree in agricultural science.
In the selection process, priority is given to the older age group within this bracket. For each shop, there is a loan facility of up to ₹5 lakh available, with a total project cost of ₹6 lakh.
Additionally, there is a 5% interest subsidy, and the loan repayment period is set for three years. A monthly rent support of ₹1,000 for the shop is also provided for the first year.
Locations for New ‘One Stop Shops’
The new shops will be opened in various villages across Varanasi, including Baraipur, Mustafabad, and Jairampur in Chiraigaon block; Karghna, Dilawpur,
and Rampur in Sewapuri block; Dharampur, Nandapur, Mahdepur, and Jhanjhor in Pindra block; and several locations in Araziline, Baragaon, Kashi Vidyapeeth, Cholapur,
and Shivpur urban areas. This expansion aims to enhance accessibility for farmers throughout the region.
