There is good news for around 6.5 lakh post office account holders in Rae Bareli. Customers can now deposit and withdraw money from their post office accounts even if they do not have their passbook with them.

The new facility is available at main post offices, sub-post offices, and rural branch post offices, making banking services more convenient, especially for people living in villages.

Aadhaar-Based Banking Service Now Available

The Postal Department has introduced the Aadhaar-Enabled Payment System (AEPS), similar to services offered by many banks.

With this system, account holders can carry out cash deposits and withdrawals using their Aadhaar number and biometric verification.

This means customers will no longer have to depend on their passbook for basic banking transactions.

The service will be particularly useful for people who have lost their passbook or do not have it with them at the time of the transaction.

Secure Transactions Through Biometric Verification

According to Postal Superintendent Anoop Agarwal, around 6.5 lakh account holders in the district are expected to benefit from this facility.

He said the Aadhaar-based deposit and withdrawal system is completely secure because every transaction is completed only after biometric verification.

This helps ensure that only the account holder can access the account and carry out transactions.

Rae Bareli currently has two main post offices, 54 sub-post offices, and several rural branch post offices where this facility is being provided.

This will make banking services easier and more accessible for customers across the district.
