The service is designed for families who want to stay connected with children and elderly family members.
It combines location tracking, safety alerts and digital controls through linked mobile applications.
What the JioShield family safety plan offers
JioShield provides location updates, SOS alerts and low-battery notifications. For children, parents can also manage screen time, approved apps and contacts through the connected JioThings app.
The service works through two applications.
The parent uses JioThings, while the child uses the JioShield app on their smartphone. Once the devices are paired, parents can access the available safety and digital-management features.
Jio also provides features such as geo-fencing, which can notify parents when a child enters or leaves a designated area.
A phone-ringing feature can help parents locate a linked phone even when it is set to silent.
How the ₹1,000 recharge voucher offer works
Customers pay ₹1,000 upfront for the one-year programme. Under the anniversary offer, the amount is matched through ten recharge vouchers worth ₹100 each.
The vouchers can be used for eligible Jio mobility prepaid recharges of ₹399 and above on unlimited 5G plans.
The vouchers are not cash and must be redeemed according to the programme’s conditions.
The offer also includes a 12-month Canva Pro subscription and an unlimited 5G upgrade for 28 days, subject to the applicable eligibility and programme terms.
Phone requirements and eligibility
The child’s phone must be an Android smartphone running Android 10 or above and must have an active Jio mobile number.
The parent also needs a Jio number associated with the subscription.
Both the parent and child must register using Jio numbers to enrol. JioThings is currently available on Android, while Jio has said that the iOS version will be available from October 1, 2026.
The programme is available to eligible customers and requires an active Jio mobile number on a qualifying recharge plan.
The ₹1,000 programme fee is payable in advance, while the recharge vouchers have their own validity and redemption conditions.
