Govt to Launch ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ GST Reward Scheme on September 1

In a bid to crack down on the rampant issue of counterfeit bills and fraudulent registrations under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system, the government is unveiling an innovative solution.

Introducing the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ reward scheme, a pioneering initiative that empowers consumers to actively combat fake billing practices while also standing a chance to win substantial prizes.

Understanding the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ Scheme

Scheduled to launch on September 1, the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ incentive scheme will initially roll out across six states and union territories, namely Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Puducherry, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The core concept of this scheme revolves around encouraging individuals to demand proper invoices for their purchases.

By leveraging the government’s dedicated mobile app and uploading their purchase bills, citizens can enter a realm of exciting prizes, ranging from ₹10,000 to a staggering ₹1 crore.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) spearheads this visionary initiative.

By promoting the importance of seeking and preserving genuine bills, the government aims to dismantle the network of fake billing and raise consumer awareness.

Key Features of the Scheme

  • Nationwide Accessibility: Accessible through both iOS and Android platforms, the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ app provides an inclusive and user-friendly interface.
  • Invoice Essentials: While uploading invoices onto the app, ensure that they contain crucial details such as the seller’s GSTIN, invoice number, amount paid, and tax amount.
  • Monthly Cap and Minimum Value: Participants can upload a maximum of 25 bills each month, with the stipulation that the minimum value of each bill must be ₹200.

In a recent social media announcement on the X platform (formerly Twitter), CBIC officials underscored that individuals stand a chance to receive cash rewards by simply uploading their GST bills.

Empowering Consumers, Curbing Counterfeits

The ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ scheme reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a transparent and accountable economic landscape.

By incentivizing citizens to actively demand genuine invoices, this initiative not only bolsters consumer rights but also sends a strong message against the menace of fake bills and registrations.

As September 1 approaches, anticipation runs high for the rollout of this groundbreaking scheme.

Citizens across the designated states and union territories are encouraged to embrace their right to authentic billing while embracing the opportunity to win substantial prizes.
