Gold rates today fell across major retail jewellers in India on October 1, 2026, with 22-carat gold dropping by ₹3,000 per 100 grams and 24-carat gold declining by ₹3,300 over the same quantity.

The fall came as the dollar and US Treasury yields strengthened.

The latest movement came ahead of the festive season, when demand for jewellery typically becomes an important factor in the domestic gold market.

Despite the correction, gold prices remained near elevated levels.

IBJA Gold Rates and Market Factors

The India Bullion and Jewellers Association’s rates showed 999-purity gold at ₹14,869 per gram.

Rates for 995, 916, 750 and 585 purity stood at ₹14,809, ₹13,620, ₹11,152 and ₹8,698 per gram respectively.

The report attributed the day’s fall partly to the stronger dollar and higher Treasury yields.

Expectations surrounding monetary policy and interest rates also remained an important factor for the precious-metal market.

Festive Demand Remains Important

Gold has entered the festive season at historically high price levels.

According to Brickwork Ratings’ Head of Research Rajeev Sharan, festive and wedding purchases around Dussehra, Dhanteras and Diwali could support demand in value terms, although high prices may influence jewellery buying patterns.

The latest correction therefore comes at a time when buyers are watching both retail prices and broader market movements.

Actual jewellery purchase prices can also vary between retailers and may differ because of applicable making charges and other costs.
