There is good news for people travelling between India and Canada. Air India will start non-stop flights between Delhi and Toronto from August 1, 2026.
With no refuelling stop on the way, passengers will reach their destination around 3 hours faster than before.
The airline is also increasing its service on this route from five flights a week to daily flights, making travel more convenient for passengers.
No More Refuelling Stop
At present, Air India operates older Boeing 777 aircraft on the Delhi-Toronto route, which stop in Vienna, Austria, for refuelling. This makes the total journey take about 20 hours.
From August 1, the airline will use its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on this route. Thanks to its longer flying range, the aircraft can complete the journey without stopping for fuel, reducing travel time to around 17 hours.
The return flight from Toronto to Delhi will continue to operate non-stop in about 16 hours.
Daily Flights for More Convenience
Air India currently operates five flights a week between Delhi and Toronto. From August 1, the airline will offer daily flights on this route.
The airline had reduced flight frequency during June and July due to higher fuel costs and global geopolitical issues. With the new aircraft now being introduced, daily operations are being restored.
New Dreamliner Offers a Better Travel Experience
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner comes with upgraded cabin features designed for a more comfortable journey. It includes 30 Business Class private suites, 28 Premium Economy seats, and 238 Economy Class seats.
Passengers can expect a more modern and premium flying experience compared to the older aircraft.
Air India CEO on the New Service
Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said the airline is expanding the use of new aircraft and upgraded cabins on important international routes.
According to him, introducing the Dreamliner on the Delhi-Toronto route will improve travel convenience for passengers and strengthen Air India’s premium services across North America.
