Chennai Kollam Special Trains have been announced by Southern Railway to provide more travel options during the Pooja festival and Gandhi Jayanti period.
Four weekly special services will operate between Chennai and Kollam, with a total of 20 trips scheduled from October to early November.
The services will run under train numbers 06117, 06118, 06121 and 06122. Advance reservations for the services opened at 8 am on September 23, 2026.
Chennai Kollam Special Trains Schedule
Train 06117 will leave Chennai Egmore at 11:40 pm on October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, reaching Kollam at 4:20 pm the following day.
Its return service, train 06118, will leave Kollam at 6:45 pm on October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, reaching Chennai Egmore at 12:30 pm the next day.
Another Chennai Egmore-Kollam service, train 06121, will run at 11:40 pm on October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. It will reach Kollam at 4:20 pm the following day.
Train 06122 will operate from Kollam to Dr MGR Chennai Central at 6:45 pm on October 4, 11, 18, 25 and November 1. It will reach Chennai Central at 11:35 am the following day.
Major Stations Covered on the Route
The special trains will serve several important stations along the route, including Perambur, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur.
The services will then cover Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanasseri, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara and Kayamkulam before reaching their respective destinations.
This route gives passengers travelling between Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kerala additional options during a period when demand for train travel is expected to rise.
When Chennai Kollam Trains Will Run
The first Chennai-to-Kollam service will run on October 1, followed by weekly services through October.
The Saturday services from Chennai will continue through October 31, while the final return journey from Kollam is scheduled for November 1.
Passengers should check the applicable train number, travel date and boarding station while making reservations because the four special services have different operating days and terminating stations.
