Air India Express is all set to begin international operations from the newly developing Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).

The airline will launch daily flights between Navi Mumbai and Abu Dhabi starting July 15.

With this move, Air India Express will become one of the first carriers to operate international services from the airport, marking a major milestone for NMIA.

Daily Abu Dhabi Flights from Navi Mumbai

The airline will operate daily flights using a Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.

The flight details are as follows:

Outbound flight: IX205 (Navi Mumbai to Abu Dhabi)

Return flight: IX206 (Abu Dhabi to Navi Mumbai)

Air India Express already operates flights to Abu Dhabi from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, and this new route adds another international option for passengers in the region.

Expanding Operations at NMIA

Before launching international flights, Air India Express already had a presence at NMIA with domestic routes to Delhi and Bengaluru.

The addition of Abu Dhabi marks the airline’s first international expansion from the new airport and strengthens its growing network from Navi Mumbai.

The airport is preparing to begin both international passenger services and cargo operations around the same time.

NMIA Set for International Launch on July 15

Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to begin its international operations from July 15, subject to final regulatory approvals.

According to NMIA Chairman Captain BVJK Sharma, the airport will first start cargo freighter operations and gradually scale up activity.

He noted that freighter services could grow to around 18 weekly flights, followed by the launch of international passenger flights on the same day.

More Airlines Expected to Join Soon

Industry reports suggest that other major airlines, including IndiGo, are also exploring the possibility of starting international operations from NMIA.

This indicates that the airport could quickly emerge as a major aviation hub, especially for international travel and cargo movement.

A New Phase for Mumbai’s Aviation Network

The launch of international flights and cargo services marks a significant expansion phase for Navi Mumbai International Airport.

With Air India Express confirming Abu Dhabi flights and more airlines expected to follow, NMIA is set to strengthen Mumbai’s overall aviation capacity.

Once fully operational, the airport is expected to ease congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport and provide passengers with more travel options in the coming months.
