NHAI Rs 1,000 FASTag Reward is available to National Highway commuters who report unclean toilets at eligible NHAI facilities through the Rajmargyatra mobile app.

The Clean Toilet Picture Challenge has now been extended until June 30, 2027.

The initiative was launched to encourage travellers to report poorly maintained toilet facilities at toll plazas and improve cleanliness and user experience on National Highways.

NHAI Rs 1,000 FASTag Reward Extended

Under the scheme, commuters need to upload a clear, geo-tagged and time-stamped photograph of an unclean toilet through the latest version of the Rajmargyatra app.

The submission must also include the traveller’s name, location, vehicle registration number and mobile number.

If the claim is found eligible after verification, the Rs 1,000 reward is credited as a FASTag recharge to the linked vehicle registration number.

The reward cannot be transferred or taken as cash.

How to Claim the Rs 1,000 FASTag Reward

To participate, travellers first need to identify an unclean toilet at an eligible NHAI facility on a National Highway.

They then have to capture the required photograph and submit it through the Rajmargyatra app with the requested vehicle and personal details.

A vehicle registration number can receive the reward only once during the entire scheme period.

If multiple people report the same toilet on the same day, only the first valid report submitted through the app will be considered.

The photographs and claims are subject to verification through AI-assisted screening and manual checks wherever required.

This means simply uploading a photograph does not automatically guarantee the reward.

Which Toilets Are Covered Under the Scheme

The reward applies only to toilet facilities constructed, operated or maintained under NHAI’s jurisdiction.

Toilets at retail fuel stations, dhabas and other public facilities outside NHAI’s control are excluded from the programme.

The Clean Toilet Picture Challenge was originally launched in September 2025.

NHAI has extended it until June 30, 2027 to encourage continued public participation and allow eligible FASTag rewards to be processed.

429 Travellers Already Received the Reward

According to NHAI, around 429 National Highway commuters had already received Rs 1,000 FASTag recharge rewards for reporting unclean toilets during 2026 as of the July 2026 update.

The initiative gives highway users a direct way to report sanitation problems while linking the complaint process with a FASTag incentive.

Travellers planning to participate should ensure that their photograph meets the scheme’s requirements before submitting it.
