RailOne Season Ticket rules have changed from September 9, allowing registered users to book season tickets not only for themselves but also for up to five other passengers.
The new facility is aimed at making season ticket booking easier for families and people who regularly arrange travel for others.
RailOne Season Ticket Rules for New Bookings
Under the updated system, a registered RailOne user can book a season ticket for themselves or for a maximum of five other passengers.
This means commuters no longer need to depend on separate booking arrangements when purchasing season tickets for family members or other eligible passengers.
There is also a difference in when the ticket becomes valid. A season ticket booked for the registered RailOne user can become valid on the same day after successful geographical verification.
However, when the ticket is booked for another passenger, its validity starts from the following day.
The person booking a season ticket for themselves must be at least 18 years old.
When a registered user books a ticket for someone else, the passenger travelling on that ticket can be five years old or above, subject to applicable railway rules.
Who Can Use a Railway Season Ticket
A railway season ticket is designed mainly for passengers who frequently travel between the same two stations.
Instead of purchasing an individual ticket for every journey, the holder can make multiple journeys between the specified stations during the ticket’s validity period.
Season tickets are generally available for Second Class travel on suburban as well as non-suburban routes, with the facility normally covering journeys of up to 150 km.
Both general passengers and students can use season tickets, subject to the applicable railway conditions.
However, a season ticket does not permit travel in reserved coaches. Restrictions can also apply to certain trains where specific distance-based travel conditions are in force.
Passengers should therefore check the applicable conditions before travelling.
RailOne Season Ticket Validity and Verification
The digital season ticket includes passenger details along with a photograph and QR code. Railway ticket-checking staff can use handheld terminals to scan the QR code during verification.
Passengers can carry the season ticket as a printed copy or as a PDF on their mobile phone.
A booking receipt or invoice alone is not considered a valid travel document, so passengers need to carry the actual season ticket while travelling.
What the New RailOne Rule Means for Commuters
The change is particularly useful for families and regular commuters who need to arrange season tickets for more than one person.
Allowing one registered user to book for up to five additional passengers reduces the need for separate booking processes.
The new validity rule is also important. Passengers booking a ticket for someone else should remember that it will be valid from the next day rather than immediately after booking.
Those booking for themselves can use the ticket from the same day after successful geographical verification, as per the updated rules.
