SBI cash withdrawal rules showing ATM cash withdrawal and revised bank charges

SBI Cash Withdrawal Rules are set to change from October 1, 2026, bringing a new charge for customers using Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts.

The State Bank of India will allow four cash withdrawals per month without a charge under the revised rules.

SBI Cash Withdrawal Rules From October 1

From October 1, BSBD account holders will get four free cash withdrawals every month.

After these four transactions are exhausted, SBI will charge ₹15 plus applicable GST for each additional cash withdrawal.

The cash withdrawal limit applies across different channels, including branches, ATMs, micro-ATMs, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) and CASH@POS transactions.

This means customers should keep track of their monthly cash withdrawals if they want to avoid additional charges.

Which SBI Transactions Will Remain Free

The revised charge is specifically linked to cash withdrawals.

Digital fund transfers initiated through UPI, IMPS, NEFT and RTGS will continue to remain free under the revised BSBD account rules.

The changes therefore mainly affect customers who frequently rely on cash withdrawals rather than digital payment methods.

Customers using digital channels for routine fund transfers will not face the new ₹15 charge simply for making those transactions.

SBI ATM Rules Are Also Changing

SBI is also revising the number of free ATM transactions available to salary package account holders when they use SBI debit cards at other banks’ ATMs or Automated Deposit cum Withdrawal Machines.

From October 1, the free monthly limit for these transactions will fall from 10 to five across all centres.

The limit covers both financial and non-financial transactions.

Once the free limit is exhausted, the existing charges will apply.

Cash withdrawals beyond the limit will attract ₹23 plus GST, while non-financial transactions will cost ₹11 plus GST.

 What SBI Customers Should Know

The changes do not apply uniformly to every SBI account.

The bank has said that the existing number of free transactions and service charges for accounts other than salary package accounts will remain unchanged.

Customers using SBI ATMs and ADWMs will also continue to have the existing allowance of 10 free transactions per month, including financial and non-financial transactions.

Cardless cash withdrawals at SBI and other banks’ ATMs or ADWMs will also continue to remain free under the current rules.
