Canara Bank customers should take note of an important change in ATM rules. The bank has revised its ATM transaction charges from September 1, 2026.
The changes affect the number of free transactions and some charges customers may have to pay after crossing the free limit.
General savings account customers will now get fewer free ATM transactions each month.
Some ATM charges have also increased. However, senior citizens will continue to get the same number of free transactions as before.
Free ATM Transactions Reduced
Canara Bank has reduced the monthly free ATM transaction limit for general savings account holders.
Earlier, customers were allowed six free transactions in a calendar month. From September 1, this limit has been reduced to five.
The limit includes both financial and non-financial transactions.
This means cash withdrawals as well as services such as balance enquiries and mini statements may count towards the free transaction limit.
There is no change for senior citizens. They will continue to get eight free ATM transactions per month.
Cash Withdrawal Charges Increased
Customers who cross their free transaction limit will now have to pay more for financial transactions at Canara Bank ATMs.
Earlier, the bank charged ₹20 plus GST for cash withdrawals after the free limit.
This has now increased to ₹23 plus GST. The revised charge also applies to ICCW transactions, which include UPI-based cash withdrawals.
For non-financial transactions after the free limit, there is no change. Customers will continue to pay ₹5 plus GST.
Failed ATM Transactions Will Cost More
Canara Bank has also increased the charge for ATM transactions that fail because there is not enough money in the customer’s account.
After the applicable free transaction limit is exhausted, the charge for an insufficient-funds transaction has increased from ₹17 plus GST to ₹23 plus GST.
This applies to eligible transactions at Canara Bank as well as other banks’ ATMs.
Customers should therefore check their account balance before attempting a withdrawal, especially after using up their free ATM transactions.
Green PIN Service Becomes Cheaper
While some ATM charges have increased, Canara Bank has reduced the fee for Green PIN regeneration after the applicable free limit for certain card variants.
The charge has been reduced from ₹23 to ₹5 for cards including Classic, Standard, Platinum, Business, Select and World variants.
What Customers Should Remember
From September 1, 2026, general Canara Bank savings account customers get five free ATM transactions per month instead of six. Senior citizens continue to receive eight free transactions.
Cash withdrawals beyond the free limit now cost ₹23 plus GST, while non-financial transactions continue to cost ₹5 plus GST. Customers should keep track of their monthly ATM usage to avoid unnecessary charges.
