Uzbekistan has announced a 30-day visa-free entry facility for Indian citizens, making it simpler to explore this popular Central Asian destination.
The announcement was made by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tashkent on August 30.
The move came during PM Modi’s two-day state visit to Uzbekistan and is aimed at strengthening travel, trade and cultural ties between the two countries.
Indians Can Stay in Uzbekistan for Up to 30 Days
Under the newly announced policy, Indian passport holders will be able to visit Uzbekistan without a visa for stays of up to 30 days.
However, the announcement is still recent. Travellers should check the official implementation date and final entry requirements before making flight or hotel bookings.
The new visa-free arrangement could make Uzbekistan a more attractive option for Indians looking for an international holiday without the hassle of applying for a visa in advance.
India-Uzbekistan Ties Continue to Grow
The visa announcement is part of a wider effort to strengthen relations between India and Uzbekistan.
President Mirziyoyev described India as a reliable strategic partner and highlighted the growing economic relationship between the two countries.
According to him, bilateral trade crossed US$1 billion for the first time last year.
The number of joint ventures between Indian and Uzbek companies has also increased significantly, reportedly growing seven times in recent years.
Cultural Connection Is Also Getting Stronger
The relationship between the two countries goes beyond business and trade.
Uzbekistan has institutions dedicated to Indian culture, including the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Indian Studies.
Yoga has also gained popularity in Uzbekistan.
The country established a dedicated Yoga Federation in 2018, reflecting the growing cultural connection between India and Uzbekistan.
With the new 30-day visa-free facility, Uzbekistan could now become an even more convenient destination for Indian tourists, culture enthusiasts and business travellers.
