The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert as the monsoon continues to intensify across the country.
Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds have been forecast for 19 states on August 12.
In some areas, wind speeds may reach up to 90 kmph, increasing the risk of tree falls, power disruptions, crop damage,
and travel problems. Landslide warnings have also been issued for several hilly regions, while eastern states may witness intense lightning and thunderstorms.
According to the IMD, an upper air cyclonic circulation over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and a low-pressure area over northeastern Madhya Pradesh
and nearby Chhattisgarh are likely to trigger widespread rainfall in many parts of the country.

Delhi is expected to receive heavy rain along with thunderstorms on August 12. Winds may blow at 30 to 40 kmph. The maximum temperature is likely to be 36°C, while the minimum may remain around 29°C.
Uttar Pradesh
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Meerut, Noida, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Bahraich, Balrampur, Ambedkar Nagar, Varanasi, Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Unnao, Prayagraj, Deoria, and Gorakhpur.
Strong winds of 70 to 80 kmph are also likely. In Lucknow, temperatures are expected to range between 29°C and 36°C.
Bihar
Districts including Patna, Gaya, West Champaran, East Champaran, Siwan, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Buxar, Saran, Bhojpur, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Kishanganj, Katihar, Araria, Begusarai, and Bhagalpur may receive heavy rainfall.
Winds may reach 60 to 70 kmph. Patna is expected to record temperatures between 29°C and 36°C.
Jharkhand
Heavy rain and storms are likely in Ranchi, Palamu, Latehar, Gumla, Garhwa, Simdega, West Singhbhum, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Sahebganj, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, and Chatra.
Wind speeds may touch 70 kmph. Ranchi is expected to see temperatures between 24°C and 31°C.
Uttarakhand
Heavy rain has been forecast for Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Almora, Bageshwar, and Champawat.
Winds may blow at up to 60 kmph, while Dehradun’s temperature is expected to remain between 26°C and 33°C.
Himachal Pradesh
Districts including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Bilaspur, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, and Sirmaur are likely to receive heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.
Wind speeds may reach 60 to 65 kmph. Manali is expected to record temperatures between 12°C and 17°C.
Jammu and Kashmir
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Poonch, Rajouri, Anantnag, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Doda, Kathua, and Samba.
Strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely. Srinagar may see temperatures between 20°C and 31°C.
West Bengal
Heavy rain is expected in Kolkata, Howrah, West Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, Darjeeling, Nadia, Alipurduar, Birbhum, and Kalimpong.
Winds may reach 55 to 60 kmph. Kolkata is likely to record a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum of 27°C.
Punjab
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in Ludhiana, Pathankot, Barnala, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Patiala, and Gurdaspur. Wind speeds may reach 50 to 55 kmph.
Rajasthan
Heavy rain alerts have been issued for Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Baran, Pali, Bikaner, Udaipur, and Bharatpur.
Strong winds of 60 to 70 kmph are expected. Jaipur is likely to record temperatures between 26°C and 33°C.
Madhya Pradesh
Heavy rain is expected in Bhopal, Indore, Panna, Narsinghpur, Dewas, Hoshangabad, Khandwa, Guna, Morena, Sheopur, Ujjain, Vidisha, Ashok Nagar, Neemuch, Umaria, Chhindwara, and Katni.
Wind speeds may reach 50 kmph. Bhopal is expected to record temperatures between 24°C and 28°C.
