The government has made it easier for people living in urban areas to apply for the UP National Family Benefit Scheme.
Applicants will no longer be required to submit a family register or a high school certificate to prove the age of the deceased if these documents are not available.
To make the application process simpler, the government has approved five alternative documents that can be used as proof of age.
Five Alternative Documents Now Accepted
Urban applicants can now submit any one of the following documents to verify the age of the deceased:
Ration Card
Voter ID Card
Driving License
Passport
PAN Card
The new rule was introduced through a government order issued by Anurag Yadav, Principal Secretary of the Social Welfare Department.
Why Was This Rule Changed?
Earlier, as per the government order issued on October 25, 2024, applicants had to submit a certified copy of the family register and an educational certificate showing the deceased’s date of birth.
However, many people living in urban areas do not have a family register, making it difficult to apply for the scheme. To solve this problem, the government has relaxed the document requirements.
Self-Declaration Is Also Required
Applicants who do not have a high school certificate or a family register must also submit a self-declaration in the prescribed format. The declaration should confirm that these documents are not available.
According to Social Welfare Officer Anjani Kumar, this relaxation is available only for applicants from urban areas under the UP National Family Benefit Scheme.
