Getting your Aadhaar enrolled or updated can be difficult if you have a busy work or school schedule.
To make things easier, Aadhaar services are now being expanded to Sundays across all districts of the state.
Under the new system, an Aadhaar counter will be available at the head post office in every district on Sundays.
This will allow people to complete Aadhaar-related work without taking leave from work, school or other important activities.
Aadhaar Services Already Available in Several Districts
The Sunday Aadhaar service has already started in several districts, including Lucknow, Sitapur, Ayodhya, Rae Bareli and Barabanki.
Officials have now instructed other districts to introduce the same facility.
According to Post Master General (PMG) Sunil Kumar Rai, Aadhaar Seva Kendras are currently operating at 156 post offices across six districts — Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Ambedkar Nagar, Sitapur, Barabanki and Ayodhya.
In addition, 886 mobile devices are being used to provide Aadhaar services at people’s doorsteps.
Despite these facilities, many people still find it difficult to visit Aadhaar centres during regular working days. The Sunday service is aimed at solving this problem.
Sunday Aadhaar Service Was First Introduced in May
The Sunday Aadhaar facility was first introduced in the headquarters area in May.
Between April and July 22, around 91,650 people enrolled for Aadhaar, while Aadhaar details of more than 3.66 lakh people were updated or corrected in the region.
The response to the Sunday service has encouraged authorities to expand the facility to all districts of the state.
This means people who cannot visit an Aadhaar centre on weekdays will have an additional opportunity to complete their Aadhaar-related work on Sundays.
Aadhaar Biometric Update Is Important for Children
Parents should also remember that Aadhaar biometric updates are mandatory for children at the ages of 5 and 15 years.
During this update, the child’s fingerprints, iris scan and photograph are updated.
Completing the biometric update on time helps keep a child’s Aadhaar information accurate and up to date.
It can also help avoid Aadhaar-related problems during important activities such as school admissions, examination registrations, scholarship applications and receiving benefits under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes.
With Sunday Aadhaar services now being expanded, parents and other Aadhaar holders may find it easier to complete these important updates without disrupting their weekday schedules.
